It may seem daunting to walk into an unfamiliar building or meeting for the first time. So, we hope this will help you decide to share some time with us.
You are welcome to a Sunday service here at Shepshed Word of Life Church. You will be welcomed by one of our church members at the front door, who will gladly help with any practical questions you have. We have onsite parking and fully accessible facilities. There is a creche room for families with young children. Services are broadcast live in the creche room and in our welcome area.
Typical attendance at our morning service is 80-100 people. Evenings are quieter with 40-50 people. Families and children regularly attend both services.
During the service the hymns and Bible readings will be projected onto the wall at the front, so there is no need to worry about taking a hymn book or finding the text in the Bible.
Services are normally lead by a preacher and include: readings from the Bible; prayers; a children’s talk; four or five hymns or songs and a message explaining a passage from the Bible. The preacher reads the Bible and leads us in prayer from the front. Members of the congregation are not expected to read or pray out loud. Services typically last about 75 minutes.
Children’s Church takes place during the morning service for children up age 3-11. Children come to the first part of the main service and leave for their groups before the sermon. There is also a creche provided during the morning service for babies and toddlers. If you are visiting with children, they are welcome to go along to Children’s Church or creche.
The Lord’s supper is usually celebrated twice a month, as part of the first Sunday morning and third Sunday evening of the month. Visiting Christians are encouraged to take the bread and wine with us.
Refreshments are served after each service and we’d love you to stay and chat with us over tea, coffee or a cold drink.
